Get ready for work with a Traineeship

What is a Traineeship?

A Traineeship aims to provide you with the skills and experience that you’ll need to find a job or Apprenticeship, and to succeed once you have one. As long as you are eligible, Traineeships are free to undertake and will not affect your receipt of Jobseekers Allowance, Income Support or Lone Parent benefits.

A Traineeship involves 10 weeks of classroom learning, during which you will learn about the work environment, receive English and Maths support, and get impartial careers guidance and advice on interview tips and how to improve your CV.

At the end of the 10 weeks you will go on to complete a high-quality 4-week work placement with a local employer. Click here to read about Damian, who secured a job with a local employer at the end of his 4-week work placement.

So if you’re 16-24, unemployed and struggling to find work, a Traineeship could be the programme to help you achieve more.

Why should I do a Traineeship?

A Traineeship provides a bridge between unemployment and securing a worthwhile job. It is a very good route for people struggling to find work.

Because our Traineeships have been designed in consultation with business, they are relevant and teach you the skills that employers want and the skills that are becoming more and more sought after in industry and retail.

With a Traineeship you are also given the opportunity to gain relevant experience in your industry of choice, undertaking a high quality work placement with a local employer.

By demonstrating your abilities in a Traineeship, you are able to show local employers that you have what it takes to succeed in a job or Apprenticeship.
