Skills Training UK working with world leading NDT training school, ImechE ETS

October 31st, 2017

Skills Training UK is delighted to announce it is now working with world leading NDT training school IMechE Engineering Training Solutions (IMechE ETS), who will deliver specialist NDT training within the materials testing apprenticeships.

The delivery by IMechE ETS as a sub-contractor to Skills Training UK, will cover both class room and online theoretical learning and practical applications of NDT. This will include NDT methods such as magnetic particle testing, ultrasonic testing and Radiographic Testing.

New apprenticeships dedicated to material testing were developed in partnership with employers as part of the trailblazer group led by the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT). They are designed to help improve standards and address a widening skills gap within the sector.

Skills Training UK launched its delivery of Apprenticeship Level 2 NDT Operator and Apprenticeship Level 3 NDT Engineering Technician apprenticeship training at the BINDT national conference in September, with both programmes offering certification in PCN & EN4179 to NDT level 2 standard.

Stephen Crawley, Director of Skills at Skills Training UK, said: “We are really excited to be working with IMechE as they are one of the leading NDT training schools in the world. They will bring a great amount of experience in NDT training to the apprenticeship and also provide an excellent training package that will ensure the apprentices receive a first class training programme.”

Mark Dowell from IMecheE Engineering Training Solutions, said: “Skills Training UK is a leading Apprenticeships provider with a proven track record in the advanced engineering sector. We have therefore welcomed the opportunity to work with them to deliver classroom based and onsite training focused on the NDT methods that we provide.”

Skills Training UK will be at the Advanced Engineering exhibition in Birmingham on November 1 and 2. Stephen Crawley will be speaking on the second day of the conference at 2.40pm and will focus in particular on how larger levy paying employers (with annual payroll greater than £3 million) can best manage and maximise the opportunities for workforce development. He will also explain the opportunities and incentives for smaller employers to use Apprenticeships to develop their teams.

Attendees to Advanced Engineering are invited to meet Skills Training UK on stand O2 which is next to BINDT’s stand at O4.
