Finalist joy for Skills Training UK in Dudley News Forging a Future Awards 2019
October 31st, 2019
Skills Training UK is pleased to announce we have been shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Education Award’ category at the Dudley News ‘Forging a Future For All’ Awards 2019 for our Dudley Centre’s work with young people in the West Midlands.
The community awards event, organised by the Dudley, Halesowen and Stourbridge News in partnership with Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, aims to recognise unsung heroes and special groups and individuals in the Dudley area.
Graham Clarke, Director of Education and Social Mobility at Skills Training UK, said: “We are delighted to have been announced as a finalist at this year’s ‘Forging a Future For All’ Awards.
“It is fantastic that our work in the Dudley community has been recognised. Through our range of courses and Traineeship programmes, we support young people to overcome challenges, achieve qualifications, and progress in their education and careers.”
At our Dudley Centre, we create a positive learning environment where young people aged 16-24 are supported to achieve vocational BTEC qualifications in specific work sectors, as well as completing work experience placements with local businesses. Tutors also support learners to boost their English and maths skills, as well as providing practical advice on job searching, CV writing and interview skills to help them discover the right career path.
We also provide specialist mentoring and support through a ‘Mentor Me!’ programme for vulnerable young people who face challenging personal circumstances or struggle with mental health.
Meanwhile, former Dudley Centre learner Kesia Blake has been shortlisted in the ‘Young Achiever Award’ category after achieving a Distinction in a Level 2 BTEC Customer Service qualification.
The ‘Forging a Future For All’ Awards ceremony takes place on Thursday 28 November at the Copthorne Hotel Merry Hill-Dudley.
We are currently enrolling for our courses and Traineeships for 16-24 year-olds. For more details, see here.
