September 14th, 2017
Skills Training UK has been identified as one of London Stock Exchange Group’s 1000 Companies to Inspire Europe. The report is a celebration of high-growth and the most dynamic small and medium sized businesses across Europe.
To be included in the list, companies needed to show consistent revenue growth over a minimum of three years, significantly outperforming their country peers.
Skills Training UK’s business growth has been led by its success as a leading independent Apprenticeships and Traineeships provider in the UK. It works successfully in partnership with major employers in STEM sectors as well as NHS Trusts to design and deliver Apprenticeship programmes for employees, which are aligned with business and organisational goals and achieve return on investment. It is a Prime Contractor to the Education and Skills Funding Agency.
In 2017 Ofsted awarded Skills Training UK Grade 2 ‘Good’ in all aspects of its inspection, which covered effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, outcomes for learners and other areas. It said Skills Training UK’s leadership team ‘have a very clear vision and ambition for the business’ and have ‘created a culture of demanding excellence’. The ‘Good’ Grade was retained from the previous inspection in 2014, since Skills Training UK has made considerable investments in the growth and success of the business.
Skills Training UK has used its extensive knowledge and expertise in Apprenticeships delivery to grow its market with large employers and partner them through the major funding and other Reforms to Apprenticeships. These include the introduction of the Apprenticeships Levy for employers with an annual wage bill greater than £3 million. It is also supporting smaller employers, working with them to understand the new Apprenticeship funding models and available incentives.
In 2017 Skills Training UK was one of three shortlisted finalists for ‘Training Partner of the Year’ in SEMTA (Science Engineering Manufacturing Training Awards) following a nomination by Xaar plc. Skills Training UK worked with Xaar to tailor a Business Improvement Techniques (BIT) Apprenticeship training programme for over 300 employees, resulting in £380,000 annual savings to the business through employees being empowered to suggest and make improvements.
Skills Training UK has also excelled in its fully inclusive delivery of the Study Programme and Traineeships, where a high proportion of young learners are disadvantaged, hard-to-reach and face personal challenges and barriers to learning. Through individual mentoring, skills development and high quality work experience, they achieve progression rates into further education, Apprenticeships or other employment which are above national average.
Skills Training UK has designed a bespoke approach to Traineeships, creating industry specific training that is relevant to employers and local job opportunities. The programmes are run from multiple centres in London, the West Midlands and South East England. Their success is also a result of strong links which Skills Training UK develops with local employers, Jobcentre Plus and other relevant agencies that it works closely with to help address housing and health issues.
