Traineeships for Industry

Young people on our Traineeships for Industry are eager for careers in the manufacturing, engineering, warehousing and logistics sectors.

The young people aged 16-24 begin their training at one of Skills Training UK’s centres. They learn about the industrial workplace environment during 10 weeks of classroom learning. They also improve English and Maths skills and receive one-to-one support with developing their CV and interview skills.

Each trainee then undertakes a four week work placement with an employer, at the end of which the employer provides an interview and a testimonial. There is no obligation for the employer to offer a position to the trainee at the end of the work placement although it provides an ideal opportunity to see whether they have the potential that’s needed.

The Traineeship for Industry includes gaining an accredited forklift licence, the BTEC Work Skills Award and Industrial Environmental Awareness Award.
