September 23rd, 2019

National training provider Skills Training UK, who deliver life-changing training to 16-24-year-olds in Walsall, has been awarded for their commitment to supporting local young people.

The Walsall Works Partner Award was presented to Skills Training UK at a breakfast event on September 5, hosted at Walsall College’s Enterprise and Business Hub.

The Walsall Works Partner Awards are an initiative by Walsall Council to recognise key partners who have demonstrated commitment to the local community. The Partner Awards stand as a quality mark for community engagement and delivery of social values, such as supporting local people into sustained employment, helping people to increase their skills and improve their employability.

The Skills Training UK Walsall Centre team, based at Townend House in Wisemore, were awarded for offering vocational courses to help 16-24 year-olds take their first step on the career ladder, and for adults aged 18+ to achieve the qualifications and skills they need to progress in employment. Skills Training UK has also established partnerships with local businesses, to support them with recruitment and to enable young people on Skills Training UK courses to access high quality work experience opportunities.

Navdeep Mamrath, Walsall Centre manager at Skills Training UK, said: “The Skills Training UK Walsall Centre team and I are very proud to have been presented with a Walsall Works Partner Award. We are dedicated to supporting local people to realise their aspirations, achieve new skills and progress into employment, and it is fantastic that this has been recognised.”

Skills Training UK has four training centres in the West Midlands (Walsall, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Birmingham), as well as offering employability courses for adults in further locations including West Bromwich, Solihull and Coventry.
