What is an Apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are work-based training and development programmes designed to meet the needs of employers in specific industries, represented at the national level by Sector Skills Councils. Apprenticeships are designed to deliver relevant skills that employers need, in a flexible way.

Skills Training UK is dedicated to helping employers recruit the right people for the right roles and offers a range of Apprenticeship programmes across a variety of job sectors.

As well as receiving on the job training, where required apprentices sometimes do a programme of classroom-based education, combining together to result in improved functional skills (e.g. English and Maths), a Technical Certificate and a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ).

Our Employer Engagement Team will work closely with you to ensure that the Apprenticeship programme continues to provide your apprentices with sector specific skills that will not only contribute to your bottom line but lead to the development of a positive and motivated workforce.

Employers take on the same responsibilities for apprentices as for other employees, including induction, on the job supervision and training, payment of salary and so on.

In addition to recruiting new apprentices, our Apprenticeship programmes are an ideal way for you to develop your existing workforce.
