Apprenticeships for... Materials Testing
Materials Testing Apprenticeships
Recognised at the prestigious FE Week & AELP (AAC) Apprenticeship Awards 2019, our unique delivery model has been developed to link the process between employer, specialist training provider and Apprentice, making it easier and more cost-effective for employers to upskill and recruit for Materials Testing positions.
Designed by employers, for employers, the qualifications are proven to bring real, practical benefits - helping to address skills gaps and upskill existing workforces across engineering, manufacturing, nuclear, energy, automotive, rail, construction and other STEM sectors.
Non-Destructive Testing Apprenticeships
Our level 2 Non-Destructive Testing Operator and level 3 Non-Destructive Testing Engineering Technician Apprenticeships were launched at the British Institute of Non Destructive Testing (BINDT) national conference in September 2017, with both programmes offering certification in PCN & EN4179 to NDT level 2 standard. In 2018, we jointly developed and launched the Level 6 NDT Engineer Degree Apprenticeship standard in partnership with University of Northampton.
The Apprenticeships cover both classroom and online learning, as well as practical applications of NDT. This includes methods such as magnetic particle testing, ultrasonic testing and radiographic testing.
Our long-standing employer client GB Inspection Systems Ltd, which manufactures and designs ultrasonic probes and NDT accessories, was part of the trailblazer group that worked with the BINDT to help set the new Apprenticeships.
We have established formal partnerships with specialists NDT training schools and delivery providers – including TWI, Argyll Ruane IMechE, Lavender International, the South West School of Non-Destructive Testing, Testia, Aerospace Inspection Training, International School of Aerospace and the University of Northamptonshire – to ensure world leading training provision across the UK.
“In terms of NDT Apprenticeships, Skills Training UK started with a blank sheet of paper and within a very short space of time has become extremely successful and has surpassed the expectations of the Professional Body and the Employer Group.”
Roger Lyon, BINDT Apprenticeships Project Manager
“The programme is well structured, well organised and from the outset. Skills Training UK were very employer focused. The two tutors that we work with are clearly very experienced and knowledgeable in their disciplines in NDT and Lean manufacturing principles.”
Ricardo Franckeiss, Training Manager, Sheffield Forgemasters International Ltd
